Haley and Jonah’s wedding at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center was a day we’ll return to often. Not because it was over the top or complicated, but because it felt right. The Hort does that. It lets a wedding unfold without battling the elements or the light. The greenhouse creates a kind of diffused sun that wraps around portraits. The gardens offer variety. It’s structured, but not rigid. Lush, but not overwhelming. Every corner gives you something different to hold onto. Rain or shine, the space works with the day. For wedding photographers, that kind of consistency feels like a luxury.
Their film frames made us giddy. When Dutch and I first talked about adding film into our wedding offerings again, it wasn’t a quick decision. And weddings like this one make us grateful we did. Film carries warmth differently. It doesn’t sharpen a memory. It softens around it. The tones feel familiar, almost instant. Like the moment already lived once before the shutter clicked. There’s texture in film that holds emotion gently.
We began the day in their home, where artwork, color, and texture already shaped the atmosphere. Tennis is a big part of Jonah’s life, so starting on the court felt right. Their first look happened in the living room, with the wedding party close by. The Fairmount Park Horticulture Center continued the story seamlessly. The gardens and greenhouse gave us range. Haley added lace gloves for the ceremony, the kind of detail we adore. Personal, nostalgic, deliberate. Candles lined their aisle, and the Huppah was covered in greenery and blooms. Their florals balanced soft pink and purple tones with sculptural anthurium tucked in. The arrangement matched those found on the reception tables, which were draped in sage napkins. It was a really beautifully designed reception space. Huge shout-out to Courtney Space Events!
The gallery carries the day forward exactly as it felt. Warm, honest, and full of color. A day we loved documenting, and a gallery we loved delivering.
