Cape May has this way of making time feel slower, like the world is moving just a little softer around the edges. That’s why Jeannie and Kieran’s wedding felt so right here—like it had always belonged in this town. They got ready at Buttonwood Boutique Hotel, a spot that feels like it was designed specifically for people who love quiet, cozy vibes. Jeannie, steady and glowing. Kieran, laughing like a guy who just can’t believe he gets to marry his best friend. And maybe that’s the thing—they’ve known each other since sandcastle days, before love was even a thought, when it was just sticky ice cream fingers and sandal strap tans.
When they talk about their love story, it’s simple and elaborate at the same time. Their moms waitressed together. They played on the same beach. They grew up in the same orbit until, eventually, it just made sense that they’d be here now, promising forever at the Washington Inn. And honestly? That kind of history, the quiet kind, the kind built in stolen glances across the ice company and dinner reservations made without question—that’s the stuff that makes a wedding hit different.
Shooting on Super 8 film just made sense. That grainy, nostalgic, slightly imperfect magic—it fit the day in a way that crisp, polished footage never could. Cape May in that golden light, waves rolling in- and then there was that moment. No plan, no cue—just Jeanie and Kieran, caught in the middle of the street, wrapped up in a dance that wasn’t for anyone but them. The kind of moment that happens when you forget the camera’s rolling, when the only thing that matters is the person in front of you. A little laughter, a little swaying, the whole world moving around them like an afterthought.
After the ceremony, they headed over to Louisa’s Restaurant for the reception. Let’s talk about food because if you know anything about Jeannie and Kieran, it’s that food matters. No cutesy wedding menus, just honest-to-goodness, delicious plates of food served to their friends and family. It wasn’t about fancy speeches or “perfect” anything—it was about good times, laughs, and a whole lot of food. No joke, this was probably the most relaxed reception I’ve ever shot (and the best we’ve ever been fed!) Everyone was just enjoying the hell out of the night, and I think that’s how weddings should be. A real reflection of who you are, not something overblown that feels like a performance.
