On this chilly winter day, Hajer and Matthew showed up to their Philadelphia engagement session on bikes, and I knew right away, these are my kind of people. Dutch and I bike everywhere in Philly, regardless of the weather, so it was a fun surprise to find like-minded people who were up for some fun regardless of freezing temps (and Hajer wasn’t even worried about her hair getting windblown!). We originally planned to hit up some riverside photo spots along the Schuylkill, but as we started chatting, they mentioned they had a few favorite places closer to home that held special meaning for them. There’s something exceptional about capturing a couple in the places that are part of their everyday life—the coffee shop where they grab their Saturday morning fix, the bench where they hang out and read on sunny afternoons. Those moments, those locations, they’re like a visual love letter to their routine.
We started off in Washington Square Park, then wandered through Queen Village (coincidentally, also my neighborhood, so of course I had some favorites to add in as well). We still grabbed some gorgeous shots by the river after (because, well, who can resist that view?), but the heart of this session was really about telling their story. We strolled through the neighborhood, snapping away while they were in their element, surrounded by the spots they love. It was truly a perfect evening in the city.
