Samantha and Cody’s wedding at Hotel Du Village was the kind of day you don’t forget. Late summer light, flowers still in full bloom, and a couple who’ve known each other since they were 17. Sam looked absolutely flawless. There was this peaceful confidence about her that just made the whole day feel grounded. And then there’s Cody, who somehow managed to balance sincerity and stand-up comedy in his vows, revealing (casually) that he once had a pet alligator. Sam was cracking up, and so were the rest of us.
The ceremony took place outdoors under a perfect sky. Sam’s vows? Hit me right in the gut. There’s always one part of the day where I get misty-eyed, and this time it was her words—so full of love, honesty, and depth. You could tell they’d grown up together. Afterwards, everyone gathered for cocktail hour by the fire on the patio, and the reception rolled right into the ballroom where the energy never dipped. The whole day was joyful, vibrant, and just really fun to be a part of.
Our team photographed and filmed everything, including on Super 8, which felt especially right here. Hotel Du Village has this timeless, romantic feel that plays so well with film. Sam and Cody’s vows (including Cody’s alligator confession) needed to live forever, so having a hybrid of digital and Super 8 was the move. The final film blended the nostalgic softness of Super 8 with the clarity of digital, and honestly, it just felt like them—sentimental, hilarious, and full of life.
