Let’s talk about Toni and Ben, two people who somehow managed to make “casual” look like a magazine Ad. Seriously—naturally stylish, like they just woke up, threw on some perfectly worn-in sweaters, and strolled into the woods looking like a vibe. Their engagement session in Wissahickon Valley Park was one of those shoots where everything just clicked. Late fall, a little rain, the smell of damp leaves in the air, it was the kind of day that makes you want to wander without a plan. Which, conveniently, is exactly how I like to photograph people.
Wissahickon Valley Park is one of our favorite spots for engagement sessions, and this day was a perfect example of why. It’s got just the right mix of wild and worn-in, and couples always seem to feel more like themselves out here. No onlookers, no pressure, just nature doing its thing and people remembering that being outside is really nice. The leaves were just starting to turn, giving us those last golden hints of autumn, and with the soft drizzle, everything felt a little more alive, a little more magical. Toni and Ben got it immediately. They laughed, explored, and every so often, I’d catch one of those in-between moments—Ben pulling Toni close to dodge a low branch, Toni brushing rain off his jacket. Those little details are everything.
By the time we wrapped up, the rain had picked up just enough to make the trees hum, and honestly, I think none of us really wanted to leave. Sessions like this aren’t about perfect weather or posed shots—they’re about capturing a feeling. And if I had to sum up this one? It felt like a deep breath. Like warmth in cool air. Like two people who don’t need much more than each other and a good walk in the woods.
