If you want a wedding venue that’s timeless, elegant, and just a little bit different, a museum might be the perfect fit. Philadelphia is home to some truly stunning museum wedding venues, offering everything from grand architecture to world-class artwork (and, let’s be honest, some pretty amazing food). As wedding photographers and videographers, we’ve had the chance to capture celebrations in some of the best—like the iconic Philadelphia Art Museum and the beautifully unique Michener Museum. If you’re thinking about tying the knot surrounded by history and culture, here’s what makes these venues so special.

The PMA might just be the grandest wedding venue in downtown Philadelphia. The museum’s extensive collection of artwork is impressive enough, but the ability to have your wedding among the historic architecture and works is unforgettable. You can choose to have your event on indoor balconies, in vaulted walkways, or on an outdoor terrace just to name a few. Our favorite space has to be the Great Stair Hall and balcony, featuring a grand staircase and soaring walls graced by giant tapestries—all punctuated by a gilded sculpture of the goddess of the hunt, Diana.

The Barnes Foundation isn’t just any museum; it’s a treasure trove of world-class art collected by Albert C. Barnes, including pieces by Renoir, Cézanne, and Picasso. Imagine tying the knot surrounded by a curated mix of Impressionist paintings, African masks, and ancient jewelry. It’s basically the most cultured wedding crasher you could ask for. And let’s talk logistics—because a beautiful wedding is great, but a stress-free one is even better. The Annenberg Court and Terrace give you options: gorgeous indoor/outdoor space that’s covered, so Mother Nature can throw a tantrum and you won’t have to worry. The reflecting pool and towering courtyard walls are *chef’s kiss* for timeless wedding portraits. Whether you’re an art lover or just want a venue that makes people go “Wow,” getting married at the Barnes means your big day will feel like a masterpiece in its own right.
Insider Tip: The ceremony and reception space is an amazingly blank canvas. Choose creative vendors who can bring your vision to life and maximize the space.

Getting married at the Rodin Museum in Philly isn’t just tying the knot; it’s practically sculpting your love story into something timeless- full pun intended. The museum contains one of the largest collections of the renowned French sculptor Auguste Rodin’s works outside Paris. Imagine saying your vows in front of an elegant Beaux-Arts building with columns and black wrought iron gates that look straight out of France. When you’re sipping champagne in the garden bordering the reflecting pool, the only thing tipping your guests off that you’re actually in Philly and not abroad will be the skyline views.

We are big fans of the Michener Museum at Sweetwater. It’s a standout on this list for several reasons. First, the museum is located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania meaning you don’t have to worry about transport or accommodations in the busy city (which saves everyone money and time overall). There’s a selection of different galleries and gardens all in close proximity where you can take unique and artistic portraits with your partner and wedding party. Lastly, the Michener museum’s reception space is extraordinary. While it is indoor, I almost don’t even want to say that because of how much it feels like you’re not. The building is completely made of glass letting in all that gorgeous natural light.
Insider Tip: Make time during couples portraits to visit the Nakashima Reading Room – the lighting is beautiful.

I know, I know, we said museums but the Free Library is sooooo close we thought we had to include it as a little bonus.
This one is for all of our book loving couples. I can’t think of many things more romantic than a wedding surrounded by all of the great love stories. The Free Library of Philadelphia offers several different event spaces within the building depending on your guest count and the time of year. You’re able to have your event on the roof top terrace, in the main lobby, or on the balcony landings.
Insider Tip: When having your reception in the lobby with a grand staircase entrance, think about the logistics of your dress.
