Waterfront Garden Wedding at Glen Foerd on the Delaware River

     You know those weddings where everything just feels right? That was Gabby and Tom’s day at Glen Foerd in Philadelphia, PA. This venue has it all: a massive white estate with grand staircases and sunrooms, riverfront paths, and intimate gardens. The day began in what might be Philadelphia’s most beautiful wedding suite, with its natural light, luxurious decor, and views of the estate grounds. We always recommend adding the extra time to get dressed in there. The photos we get during that time are gorgeous. Plus, it’s another opportunity to slow down on your wedding day and truly enjoy your venue. 

     The ceremony was right by the water, and honestly, it was perfect. They kept it simple, just their people, a couple beautiful florals, and the river as the backdrop.  The weather cooperated, too—light breeze, not too hot—and the whole thing just felt effortless, like it was exactly how it was supposed to be. 

     After the vows were done, it was time to party. Cocktail hour had something for everyone. Inside, people wandered through the art gallery on the mansion’s top floor. Outside, others were strolling the gardens or kicking back with drinks and delicious hors d’ourves. It’s no secret Jamie Hollander Catering really knows what they are doing, so we get pretty excited when a couple’s wedding is at one of their locations.  I mean, just look at that charcuterie set up at this Glen Foerd wedding. Gabby and Tom, who are both easygoing and fun, mingled with their guests and made sure everyone felt at home and had a laugh.

     Once the reception kicked off, the energy really picked up. The tent was lit (literally), the food was incredible, and people were dancing like no one was watching.  As the reception got underway, Gabby and Tom took a moment to step outside onto the patio, where they enjoyed cigars with close friends under the stars. Yet again, JH Catering came through with amazing desserts including waffle ice cream sandwiches, delicate macarons and delicious cookies. From the stunning ceremony to the lively reception, it was clear that this was a wedding that reflected who they are as a couple: fun, beautiful, and laid-back.
