Katy + Jared
Katy and Jared’s wedding was personalized right down to the sweet corn ice cream grown by her dad and made by The Bent Spoon where Katy worked on her thesis. Where to begin? Katy and Jared were married at Broadwater Farm, which is where Katy grew up. It is a stunning property with a perfect white house, double wrap around porch tucked right below the hill. There is an enthusiastic peacock out front, a spring house, a herd of cows, some sheep, and many working dogs.
On top of the hill with views all around, Katy and Jared were married. Katy’s mom graciously kept the cows from grazing it this spring so the grass could stay long and lush for the wedding. Grandpa played the trumpet, their friends performed the ceremony, and Katy’s brother shot off a canon to seal the deal.
Katy asked Wild Stems to replicate the bouquet her mother carried for her wedding. Every detail in their wedding was a conscious effort to tie in tradition, family, and their love of craft and delicious food and wine.
And Jared wins best style award for grooms. Ever.
I love these dogwood stems that the bridesmaids carried. Wild Stems is brilliant!
While I was photographing Katy up on the 2nd floor deck, she looked across the hillside and spotted Loki, their sheep dog, coming down from his work. This is apparently a rare occurrence. He must have heard the peacock screaming and came down to see what the hubbub was all about.
Katy and Jared live in London, but during their frequent trips home to the farm they made cheese boards for everyone in their wedding party using wood from Broadwater Farm. So beautiful!
The Katy and Jared tree! I love this tradition.
Some gowns come with a French bustle, some come with a Katy bustle… pick it up and tie it in a knot!
