I love when the couples we’re photographing can relax and look at each other in a way that’s real, not because I asked them to, but because they are together at this very moment in the golden sun. It’s not easy to be photographed, or maybe it’s not easy to forget that you’re being photographed. But if you can let go of your inhibitions and settle into the the warmth of that sun, the arms around you, and just allow yourself to feel beautiful it makes all the difference. Jackie and Tim were easy from the start, willing to follow my lead and let go. I loved how their outfits contrasted with rustic surroundings, I could have photographed them all day with all of the places we had to explore. We had that perfect fall weather (so warm the mosquitoes were out… in October!) with the leaves just starting to change, the the sun going down early.
We photographed their engagement session at Fernbrook Farms in New Jersey where they are getting married next year. It’s one of our favorite outdoor wedding venues for it’s relaxed vibe, plentiful flowers and vegetable gardens, rustic barn, and best of all – farm animals! A bucolic meadow full of sheep, a golden Jersey cow watching us with her big brown eyes, and baby goat begging to be pet…this farm-raised girl felt right at home.
