Pine trees and ferns and lichen-covered rocks down a quiet little path through the woods while nearby Lake Naomi spills itself wide open, circled by sun-kissed leaves just turning orange at the tip. The intimate woods and the bright expansive lake, such a shock when you turn from one to the other. Eyes adjusting to the sun glinting off the surface, camera settings adjusted to the constantly moving shadows in the forest. And yet one wouldn’t be as interesting without the other. It’s the dichotomy of the two that I love. The light and the dark.
Brian waited for Sophie down the path. She looked so statuesque in that dress walking towards him surrounded by the wild bramble of the woods.
To have the opportunity to photograph a wedding in the Poconos Mountains is always such a gift. Sophie and Brian had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony alongside Lake Naomi Club. While Brian was waiting for Sophie to walk down the aisle, a Bald Eagle circled overhead. An epic beginning to say the least. Brian’s uncle united them in marriage and there was a constant flow of laughter and tears. The cocktail hour overlooked the lake from high above and everyone watched the sunset as we stole Sophie and Brian out for a couple more pictures. One of our favorite wedding bands, Jack Faulkner Orchestra, played that night and as Dutch pointed out, it was the best we’ve ever heard them. Outside, luminaries were set on the beach as the night softened. It was a perfection.
