We’d been waiting a long time for Megan and Joe’s wedding. They’re design-savvy, artistic, and totally open-minded about letting us do our thing. They chose Front & Palmer, an industrial chic wedding venue in Philadelphia, to fill with their romantic-urban mix of a hand-painted backdrops, letterpress (yes DIY), flowers, and these amazing little lanterns they created (they even poured the concrete base). Everywhere you looked was another detail they made together. The wedding was gorgeous, but hands down our favorite part was the contagious laughter and fun. Sometimes people say they blinked and their wedding was over, but I think Megan and Joe savored every second.
This was Megan’s reaction when Dutch walked in with his Super8 camera. Joe surprised her with Dutch shooting Super8 as his wedding gift to her. She was soooo surprised, she laughed and cried and laughed some more. Apparently just the night before she was telling her girlfriends how disappointed she was that they didn’t choose Super8! Joe nailed it. What an amazing gift. Dutch will have a film to show you all soon!
People always ask us if we take family pictures at a wedding. Of course we do and these pictures are exactly how we want you to feel about taking family pictures. Couples often drag their feet saying “I guess we have to do family pictures” but someday they’ll be amongst your most treasured so make them count. Drop the formality, throw your arms around your parents and enjoy the moment! As an added bonus, this makes the pictures go faster, too, because we’re getting such great shots from the start.
Megan and Joe painted the backdrop for their ceremony and then had Peicha, their florist, decorate it with flowers. So beautiful.
The breaking of the glass turned out to be a very un-breakable (projectile) vase!
Amy and Haavard! The couple responsible for us meeting these two crazy kids. Megan was a bridesmaid in Amy’s wedding that we photographed a few years ago! Really fun to see them again.
